April 2008

Especially perfect for writers, with quotes like “My inner critic wears combat boots.” See http://azang.livejournal.com/64743.html for details.

He called! He called! My best friend called. And for once I’m not hesitating before I say “my best friend,” because he got my messages and as soon as he could he called.

My messages were short, a little fed-up, because as I finally told him I haven’t received a call from him for about two years. And it happens, we’re both busy, but it does matter. He’s great at keeping in touch when I’m nearby, but a state away it’s harder. But he called. He’d been out of town, and when he got back he called. I’m so happy.

In other news, I got accepted to Shimer, and he’s applying to this nifty alternative boarding school in northern Wisconsin. I can take trains and buses to get fairly close to his school, so hopefully I’ll be able to visit sometimes.

I babysat this morning. I love those kids; they’re beyond adorable, and I can’t begin to describe how fun it is to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar in Japanese. (Harapeko Aomushi, I think the title is.) I would like to give a gigantic thank-you to whoever decided to make a Dora the Explorer music CD with the old classics like Down by the Bay and Rockin’ Robin along with some new tunes. It made the whole morning extra-cheerful.
